Job Title: Research Information Security Lead

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Research Information Security Lead to join our team at the University of Kentucky. As a senior technical member of the Markey Cancer Center Informatics team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive information security program.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Technical leadership of information security policy development, operations, vulnerability management, testing and validation, certification, incident responses, and cloud security management.
  • Collaboration with Cancer Center, UK HealthCare, campus IT, and others to ensure a secure and compliant environment.
  • Development and implementation of information security policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Conducting security audits and risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Providing technical guidance and support to staff on information security best practices.
Requirements:
  • 5+ years of experience in information security, with a focus on technical leadership and program management.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Server, Active Directory, Group Policy Objects, OS Hardening and Security Audits, Virtualization, Storage Area Networks (SAN), Linux, Mac OS, Transmission Control Protocol/Internet, Protocol (TCP/IP), Firewall Implementation and Configuration.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Masters degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field.
  • Experience with Powershell, HTML, PHP, CSS, ASP and.Net, C/C++, Java, XML, Splunk, Tenable, and project management.
