Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Nurse Extern I PRN to join our team at Memorial Medical Center. As a Nurse Extern, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting our nursing staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide basic patient care activities under the supervision of an RN, including monitoring vital signs, taking blood glucose measurements, and recording intake and output.
  • Assist patients with personal care and activities of daily living, such as bathing, grooming, eating, and ambulation.
  • Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental, and emotional conditions to nursing staff.
  • Assist with keeping patient rooms and common areas stocked, clean, and orderly.
  • Transport patients safely and efficiently, utilizing appropriate means of transportation.
  • Meet nutritional needs of patients by passing meal trays and snacks, opening packages, and positioning items for patient convenience.
  • Observe and report skin conditions of assigned patients, with a focus on moderate or high-risk patients.
  • Measure and record intake and output, including NPO, percent diet/snack, and fluids consumed by mouth.
  • Support a family-centered, patient-focused environment in all interactions with patients, families, visitors, and volunteers.
  • Collect, label, and transport specimens, and perform point-of-care testing according to department policy.
  • Provide clerical support to the unit, including inserting and removing foley catheters using sterile technique.
Requirements
  • Must be enrolled in a Nursing Program.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
  • ACLS certification is required for areas where moderate sedation is performed.
