Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY

The Security Access Control Associate is responsible for ensuring that individuals entering the venue do not carry prohibited items such as weapons or alcoholic beverages.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct thorough screening of all individuals and their belongings before granting access to the venue.
  • Effectively communicate with guests and staff, requesting that they open bags and outerwear for inspection.
  • Collaborate with Keeneland Security and law enforcement to address any additional screening needs or safety issues that may arise.
  • Assist with various security-related tasks as necessary.

REQUIREMENTS

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications:

  • Participate in a training session prior to the event to understand safety protocols and screening procedures.
  • Maintain a professional appearance, including a Keeneland-issued blazer and tie/scarf, along with personal khaki pants and a button-down shirt or blouse.
  • Exhibit flexibility in scheduling, with a willingness to work varying hours during events with little notice.
  • Possess strong verbal communication skills and demonstrate a positive interaction with guests and staff.
  • Utilize sound judgment and discretion when engaging with individuals.
  • Showcase excellent customer service skills and the ability to think quickly in dynamic situations.
  • Work effectively in a multitasking environment and contribute positively to a team setting; candidates should demonstrate sound judgment and integrity.
  • Successfully complete an interview designed to assess general knowledge and relevant skills for the position.
  • Agree to adhere to the Drug-Free Workplace policy.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred but not mandatory.
