Key Responsibilities- Assist special education teachers in implementing curriculum and programming tailored to the needs of students with disabilities.
- Supervise students in various settings, including classrooms and extra-curricular activities.
- Participate in the management of student behavior and create a safe and conducive learning environment.
- Collaborate with teachers and other staff members to develop and implement individualized education plans.
- Provide support and assistance to students with physical and emotional needs.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the Principal and special education teacher.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree or higher preferred.
- Successful completion of at least 2 years (48 semester hours) of study at an institution of higher learning or equivalent experience.
- Good public relations skills and ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups.
- Ability to understand and support the unique needs of students with disabilities.
- Physical strength, mobility, and stamina to perform job responsibilities.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and provide physical support when required.
- Proficiency in oral, written, and electronic communication and ability to use various technological devices/software.
This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing circumstances. The successful candidate will be able to work collaboratively with teachers, staff, and students to provide exceptional educational experiences.
Salary and BenefitsSalary will be based on the St. Clair County School System Salary Schedule. Benefits include health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
