Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Coding Specialist to join our team at Kaiser Permanente. As a key member of our coding team, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate and compliant coding practices across our organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide coding expertise and guidance to staff on coding policies and procedures
  • Research and stay up-to-date on coding changes, guidelines, and regulatory requirements
  • Conduct medical record documentation audits to ensure compliance with coding and billing standards
  • Develop and implement coding improvement plans to optimize Claim Editing System (iCES) performance
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless integration of coding and billing processes
Requirements
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in medical claims
  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required
  • Able to obtain CPC, CCS-P, RHIT, RHIA, CCS, CPC-H certificate by, or eligibility soon after, date of hire/transfer
Preferred Qualifications
  • Extensive knowledge of Medicare compliance issues and healthcare coding, billing, and reimbursement in a fee-for-service environment
  • Five (5) years of experience in medical claims
  • Auditing experience
  • Knowledge of ICD-9CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding
