Job Summary:The School Nurse will work under the general direction of the Director of Nursing Services to perform public health nursing activities in schools. This includes assisting physicians in conducting public health programs, providing health education, and performing other related work as directed.
Responsibilities:- Provide healthcare services to students and staff, including administering medications, treating injuries, and providing first aid.
- Develop and implement health education programs for students and staff, focusing on topics such as nutrition, physical activity, and disease prevention.
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other healthcare professionals to promote a healthy school environment.
- Conduct health assessments and screenings to identify potential health issues and provide referrals for further care as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of student health information and provide reports to parents and school administrators as required.
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and one year of full-time nursing experience.
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Connecticut and CPR/AED certification.
- Ability to work effectively with students, staff, and parents from diverse backgrounds.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
