Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Speech Language Pathologist to join our team at Springfield Public Schools. The successful candidate will be responsible for evaluating and providing speech-language services to students with Individualized Educational Plans in SEZP schools.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and support Speech-Language Assistants as per state regulations.
  • Collaborate with school staff members to develop a comprehensive program to promote students' receptive and expressive language skills for academic success.
  • Provide individualized education programs to meet the unique needs of speech-language disabled students.
  • Assist teachers in understanding normal and disordered developmental milestones and referring students with suspected speech-language disabilities.
  • Conduct thorough assessments and diagnoses of speech-language disorders and disabilities using culturally and linguistically appropriate methods.
  • Screen students to identify those with suspected speech-language disabilities.
  • Refer students to agencies and specialists in the community as needed.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and other school staff members to implement age and linguistically appropriate accommodations and intervention strategies in the classroom.
  • Provide information, support, and counsel to parents and families in a multicultural and multilingual setting.
  • Provide in-service training and serve as a consultant to teachers and school staff members on topics concerning first and second language acquisition and speech-language disorders/disabilities.
  • Maintain thorough records for individual students receiving speech-language services.
  • Manage a caseload of speech-language disabled students in the schools.
  • Work collaboratively with the IEP chairperson and school team to develop comprehensive educational plans for speech-language disabled students.
Qualifications
  • Masters Degree in Speech-Language Pathology.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence or Clinical Fellowship Candidacy, ASHA.
  • MA DESE License and/or MA State License in Speech-Language Pathology (All Grade Levels).
  • Bilingual in English + Spanish preferred.
