We have an excellent opportunity for a Environmental Health and Safety Specialist to contribute to our team's success. Our ideal candidate will be responsible for minimizing risks, ensuring a healthy working environment, and adhering to health and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in and coordinate the development of new safety programs (Operational Safety Excellence)
- Responsible for reviewing current safety programs and updating them to current OSHA guidelines (lockout-tagout, PPE, etc.)
- Willingness to travel (up to 50% of the time)
- Perform Hazard safety analyses and communicate/mitigate procedures
- Keep track of and analyze accident and incident reports, make recommendations for improvement
- Respond to emergency situations at each facility
- Complete daily safety meetings/audits
- Complete weekly inspections on eye wash stations, ladder inspections, and other critical areas
- Complete monthly inspections for potentially hazardous waste escapes
- Work directly with Plant Manager and Manufacturing Managers to implement a safety culture in each location
- Maintain plant security and document a nightly shutdown process
- Review processes daily and implement Job Safety Analysis (JSA)
- Complete safety reports of any incidents
- Ergonomic assessments of areas
- Lead the plant cleanliness and recycling
- Complete internal and external safety audits to ensure OSHA compliance
- Responsible for forklift training program across various plants
- Implement a hearing assessment program
- Implement, document, and lead a hazardous waste program
- Responsible for helping understand city, county, and OSHA requirements that relate to the statement of work performed in our facilities
Requirements:
- Sound knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations and manufacturing safety programs is a must
- Thorough understanding of EHS requirements, health and safety regulations, and precautions needed to keep our teammates safe
- Ability to communicate effectively with operators and business leaders at all levels
- Ability to prepare business cases with a strong analytical and structured approach is a plus
- Flexible and adaptable to business change requirements
- Some knowledge of Lean methodologies (5S, VSM, Flow, Takt time, line balancing amongst others) is a plus
- Project management skills and training are a plus
- ESG program knowledge is a plus
Education/Certifications:
- Bachelor's or associate degree in environmental health and safety, industrial hygiene, or a related field from an accredited institution
- Ergonomic training is a plus
- OSHA 10 and/or OSHA 30 training is a plus
- Certifications such as RCRA, NFPA 70e, CIH, CSP, ASP, OHST, CHMM, CHST, CHMP are a plus
- Knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma tools is a plus
