About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Cytotechnologist to join our team at ProMedica Health System. As a Cytotechnologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accurate diagnosis of cytological specimens.

Key Responsibilities
  • Handle and process cytological specimens with precision and attention to detail.
  • Make initial diagnoses on all cytopathology consultations and final diagnoses on negative gynecological material.
  • Refer abnormal gynecological material and non-gynecological material to pathologists for final diagnosis.
  • Utilize laboratory computer information systems to enter results and maintain quality control and quality assurance records.
  • Participate in ongoing education and training to maintain expertise in clinical cytology and cytopathology.
  • Collaborate with laboratory staff and medical professionals to ensure seamless patient care.
Requirements
  • ASCP certification in cytotechnology and a baccalaureate degree or equivalent from an accredited college/university.
  • Effective interpersonal skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to move continuously about the hospital and between workstations, with prolonged periods of standing.
  • Ability to tolerate exposure to disease-bearing specimens, odorous chemicals, and other hazardous materials.
