Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement site-specific health and safety plans, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
  • Conduct regular site visits to identify potential hazards and implement controls to mitigate risks.
  • Provide training and guidance to employees and contractors on health and safety procedures and protocols.
  • Investigate incidents and near-misses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement safety procedures and protocols.
  • Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, and training activities.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with regulatory agencies and industry stakeholders to stay up-to-date on changing regulations and best practices.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in construction safety, with a focus on site-specific health and safety planning and implementation.
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction Industry Outreach Training Program certification.
  • Competent Person Training for Trenching, Excavation, Confined Space, Fall Protection.
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
  • HAZWOPER training and experience.
  • EM385-1-1 certification.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to travel to construction sites as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Third-Party, Nationally Accredited (ANSI or National Commission for Certifying Agencies - NCCA) SOH-related certification.
  • UXO coordination experience.
  • Enhanced state driver's license.
  • U.S. citizenship (required for access to secure areas of military base).
  • Ability to obtain badging for DOD and Federal Government installations.
Working Conditions

The Site Safety Officer will work in a fast-paced construction environment, with frequent travel to construction sites. The position requires the ability to work in a variety of weather conditions, including extreme temperatures, rain, and snow. The Site Safety Officer will also work in an office setting, with frequent use of a computer, keyboard, mouse, and multi-line telephone system.

Supervisory Responsibilities

The Site Safety Officer may be required to supervise additional employees and/or subcontracted employees, depending on workload.
