Lead Financial Professional Wanted

Galveston County Health District is seeking an exceptional financial leader to serve as our Controller. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in driving financial success and achieving our organization's mission.

Salary: Up to $150,000 per year, based on experience

About the Role

In this vital position, you will oversee all fiscal-related functions, including financial planning, budgeting, and financial reporting. You will also supervise and train staff to ensure efficient financial operations. Your strong analytical skills and ability to interpret complex financial data will enable you to provide insightful recommendations to senior management and the finance committee.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement financial strategies to drive organizational growth and profitability
  • Prepare comprehensive financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow analysis
  • Collaborate with department managers to ensure financial alignment with organizational goals and objectives
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal controls through regular audits and assessments
  • Supervise and train staff to develop their skills and expertise in financial management

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance or a related field
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience with computers and software programs, such as Microsoft Office
  • 7+ years of experience in management
  • Excellent math skills and knowledge of GAAP
  • Experience with financial internal control principles and automated financial and accounting reporting systems
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification preferred but not required
