About the Role

As a Vascular Access Nurse Specialist at Riverside Health System, you will play a critical role in assessing and establishing vascular access devices for patients. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring the safe and effective placement of these devices, which are crucial for various medical treatments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess patients for appropriate vascular access device placement based on their clinical needs, adhering to the Infusion Nurses Standards of Practice.
  • Provide education and resources to patients, families, nursing staff, and physicians on vascular access insertion, care, maintenance, and complication identification and management.
  • Accurately complete all required clinical and quality documentation consistently, meeting RHS standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with patients, families, nursing staff, and physicians to develop, implement, and evaluate plans of care for vascular access device placement.
  • Stay up-to-date with evidence-based standards of practice and contribute to the development of policies and procedures related to vascular access care.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (preferred) or Associate's Degree in Nursing (preferred) or Nursing Diploma (required).
  • 1 year of experience working with central lines (preferred) or 1 year of RN experience (required for PRN roles) or 2 years of RN experience (required for Temp roles).
  • Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in Virginia or a compact state (required) and CPR/BLS certification (required).
