Total Fire Protection is a rapidly expanding company seeking a skilled Fire Alarm Systems Programmer to join our team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing all duties and tasks related to fire alarm systems, ensuring compliance with regulatory codes and standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Read, interpret, and execute blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, software/systems programs, schematics, and operational product manuals.
- Program or have proven experience in programming low voltage systems, including fire alarm, nurse call, access control, security, CCTV, and clocks.
- Apply specific skills and relevant fire alarm system knowledge, including underlying professional/technical principles or standards.
- Play a key role in fire alarm project execution, including coordination of equipment delivery and interface with other trades to successfully complete projects.
- Diagnose problems and perform service and repairs on electronic fire alarm systems and other relevant building systems at customer sites.
- Adhere to method-of-procedure(s) required to troubleshoot systems in accordance with technical manuals, part manuals, change notices, and bulletins to repair equipment.
- Service, troubleshoot, and install many different manufacturers' fire alarm systems, as required to meet customer and company expectations.
- Understand specific scope of work requirements as outlined by contractors and customers, to uphold RFI needs and make potential recommendations.
- Perform and/or support the installation of fire-related and/or other building systems products.
Requirements:
- Five (5) years+ proven experience in fire alarm systems, both conventional and addressable type.
- Five (5) years+ experience in interior and exterior wiring and the repair of electrical equipment and appliances.
- Five (5) years+ experience in low voltage electrical systems, including fire/life safety systems, access control, nurse call, and paging systems.
- Five (5) years+ of maintenance experience and an electrical license.
- Knowledge of test equipment, multi-meter, digital analyzer, and commissioning devices.
- Experience of at least 2 major brands of fire control panels, factory training a plus.
- Knowledge of test equipment to include oscilloscope, multi-meters, digital analyzers, battery analyzers, frequency meters, decibel meters, and communication devices preferred.
- Excellent industrial electrical problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Valid fire alarm license.
- Computer fluency in Windows, Excel, and other Microsoft products.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD is preferred, but not required.
- Possess a valid driver's license and driving record that meets company requirements.
- Ability to travel up to 25% of time depending on assigned geographic location.
