Total Fire Protection is a rapidly expanding company seeking a skilled Fire Alarm Systems Programmer to join our team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing all duties and tasks related to fire alarm systems, ensuring compliance with regulatory codes and standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Read, interpret, and execute blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, software/systems programs, schematics, and operational product manuals.
  • Program or have proven experience in programming low voltage systems, including fire alarm, nurse call, access control, security, CCTV, and clocks.
  • Apply specific skills and relevant fire alarm system knowledge, including underlying professional/technical principles or standards.
  • Play a key role in fire alarm project execution, including coordination of equipment delivery and interface with other trades to successfully complete projects.
  • Diagnose problems and perform service and repairs on electronic fire alarm systems and other relevant building systems at customer sites.
  • Adhere to method-of-procedure(s) required to troubleshoot systems in accordance with technical manuals, part manuals, change notices, and bulletins to repair equipment.
  • Service, troubleshoot, and install many different manufacturers' fire alarm systems, as required to meet customer and company expectations.
  • Understand specific scope of work requirements as outlined by contractors and customers, to uphold RFI needs and make potential recommendations.
  • Perform and/or support the installation of fire-related and/or other building systems products.

Requirements:

  • Five (5) years+ proven experience in fire alarm systems, both conventional and addressable type.
  • Five (5) years+ experience in interior and exterior wiring and the repair of electrical equipment and appliances.
  • Five (5) years+ experience in low voltage electrical systems, including fire/life safety systems, access control, nurse call, and paging systems.
  • Five (5) years+ of maintenance experience and an electrical license.
  • Knowledge of test equipment, multi-meter, digital analyzer, and commissioning devices.
  • Experience of at least 2 major brands of fire control panels, factory training a plus.
  • Knowledge of test equipment to include oscilloscope, multi-meters, digital analyzers, battery analyzers, frequency meters, decibel meters, and communication devices preferred.
  • Excellent industrial electrical problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Valid fire alarm license.
  • Computer fluency in Windows, Excel, and other Microsoft products.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD is preferred, but not required.
  • Possess a valid driver's license and driving record that meets company requirements.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of time depending on assigned geographic location.
