We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Nurse Anesthetist to serve as a Supervisor and Team Lead in our Anesthesia Department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and support throughout the perioperative period, while also overseeing the day-to-day operations of the CRNA team.
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct patient care and support throughout the perioperative period, including preoperative assessment and sedation, administration and management of anesthetic, and discontinuation of anesthetic and postoperative management.
- Supervise a team of CRNAs, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to ensure high-quality patient care and team performance.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the CRNA team, including scheduling, staffing, and resource allocation.
- Collaborate with the CRNA Director to develop and implement CRNA initiatives, such as quality improvement and research projects, education and professional development programs, and off-site recruiting activities.
- Attend department, hospital, and APP-specific meetings as assigned by the CRNA Director and report back to the CRNA Director and/or CRNA staff.
- Manage personnel functions, including interviewing, selection, hiring, on-boarding, orientation, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions of CRNA team members, in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
- Assess staff satisfaction, develop and implement strategies to address satisfaction issues, and develop methods to reward and recognize team members for the purpose of CRNA retention.
- Determine staffing needs in consultation with the CRNA Director and assure proper scheduling and utilization of services in maintaining quality patient care.
- Implement established staffing patterns based on patient needs, staff qualifications, and resources available, to ensure quality patient-centered care.
- Demonstrate 24-hour accountability for maintaining appropriate staffing levels and ensuring all required CRNA call shifts are accounted for.
- Identify educational needs of CRNA team members and encourage participation in various programs and classes, ensuring that each CRNA attends required educational programs, as mandated by hospital policy.
- Participate in and promote staff participation in professional and institutional activities.
- Demonstrate a cost-conscious attitude toward time and resource usage.
- Encourage staff participation in designing and attending in-service classes.
- Must be a licensed CRNA with more than 5 years of experience.
- Current Illinois registered nursing license and an advance practice nurse license; certification by American Association of Nurse Anesthetists.
