We invite applications for the Adjunct Instructor Applicant Pool in Physical Sciences. This pool is open for ongoing recruitment to fulfill departmental teaching assignments. The teaching role may involve assignments at various campuses, and these part-time positions are flexible, catering to the needs of a diverse student body aiming to achieve their academic objectives. We provide a variety of teaching opportunities across transfer, general education, vocational, and occupational programs.
Key Responsibilities
College of the Canyons is looking for qualified adjunct faculty in Physical Sciences. Applications will be accepted for both immediate and future opportunities within the Physical Sciences Applicant Pool.
Applications are continuously reviewed, and positions remain open until filled. Your application will not be considered until all required documents are submitted.

- Integrate new technologies into the learning process, including interactive technologies for both in-person and online courses.
- Communicate effectively in both oral and written forms.
Applicants must possess an unexpired California Community College Instructor Credential in Physical Sciences.
OR - A Master's degree in the interdisciplinary area of Physical Science.
OR - A Master's degree in one of the relevant disciplines, along with upper division or graduate coursework in at least one other discipline (Chemistry, Earth Science, or Physics/Astronomy).
OR - Equivalency Option 1: An official transcript showing completion of any Master's degree from an accredited institution, along with official transcripts documenting 24 semester units in the discipline at the upper division and graduate level, with at least 12 of those units at the graduate level.
Important Notes:
- All complete and qualified application packets will be reviewed. Meeting the minimum qualifications does not guarantee an interview.
- A teaching demonstration may be required during the interview process.
- Equivalencies accepted by departments may change over time. If qualifying under an equivalency, you must meet the established minimum qualifications or department equivalencies at the time of hire.
Assignments may occur Monday through Friday (day and evening), including Saturday classes.
Adjunct Salary Rate: Starting at $88.30 per hour.
Employment offers are contingent upon verification of all information provided in the application, including credentials/transcripts, background checks, tuberculosis screening, and proof of eligibility to work in the United States.

- Current detailed resume summarizing education and experience.
- Two (2) letters of professional reference. One formal teaching evaluation may substitute for one letter of reference. Each document must be dated within the last five years and include an original signature.
- Complete College transcripts verifying educational degrees and/or coursework required for the position. Unofficial transcripts may be submitted for application purposes, but official transcripts must be provided upon hiring.
Selection Process
Positions remain open until filled. This position reflects anticipated needs for upcoming semesters or the applicant pool. The department may review materials based on enrollment needs, and selected applicants will be contacted for interviews. Only completed application packets meeting the minimum qualifications will be considered.
Qualified applicants who successfully complete the selection and interview process will be placed in the applicant pool and may be eligible for adjunct employment within the next 36 months.
