Job Summary

This position is located in a Consolidated Patient Account Center (CPAC) and is organizationally aligned under the Chief Financial Office (CFO) serving as a Lead Cashier in the Cash Management Division.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the Cash Management Department, devising and implementing new changes and systems.
  • Maintain records of productivity and prepare production reports.
  • Advise and make recommendations in relation to improving the quality of service.
  • Monitor and report deviations in workload and workload status to the Supervisor.
  • Support agency cash/check/electronic funds transfer processing functions involving the receipt, disbursement, examination, deposit, custody, and other clerical processing of cash items for the CPAC.
  • Review all vouchers for completeness, accuracy, and propriety before making payment, referring questionable vouchers for audit prior to disbursement.
  • Examine and perform quality audits of deposits to ensure regulatory issues are met, reconcile cash accountability.
Work Schedule and Telework

The VA supports the use of telework as a way to help attract and retain talented individuals in public service, increase worker productivity, and better prepare the agency to operate during emergencies.

Requirements

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

For a GS-07 position, you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06.

The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service.

An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials.

Specialized Experience

You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.

Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:

  • Assuring that production requirements are met and distributing and balancing the workload among employees.
  • Assuring timely accomplishment of workload, monitoring status, and making analytical determinations to maintain established priorities and goals.
  • Responsible for the support of agency cash/check/electronic funds transfer processing functions involving the receipt, disbursement, examination, deposit, custody, and other clerical processing of cash items for the CPAC.
  • Maintaining records of productivity and preparing production reports.
  • Setting and adjusting short-term priorities.
  • Identifying training and development needs of subordinates.
  • Providing or arranging the necessary training of developmental requirements.
  • Performing quality audits of deposits to ensure regulatory issues are met.
