Job Summary

The Patient Services Specialist 1 Float plays a vital role in ensuring high-quality, patient-centered care in a physician office, clinic, or other operational area. This position provides administrative support to patients, ensuring a seamless experience from check-in to check-out.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provides administrative support to patients, including check-in, check-out, scheduling, and insurance verification.
  • Assists with patient relations, answering phones, and directing patients to appropriate waiting areas.
  • Verifies patient demographics and enters changes into the computer system.
  • Accepts payments for physician/clinic services and posts payments and charges into the computer system.
  • Generates daily payment reports and verifies cash drawer against the report.
  • Provides accurate patient, medical, financial, or procedural information to patients or approved outside entities.
  • Receives and directs phone calls, assists patients and visitors, and responds to routine inquiries.
  • Ensures patient complaints are handled appropriately.
Requirements
  • Able to travel regularly to various clinics within a designated local region and complete duties within scope as assigned.
  • Good listening, social, and communication skills, with professional telephone etiquette.
  • Caring listener, delicate, upbeat, optimistic, articulate, gracious, and tactful.
  • Able to promptly assess requests using electronic and paper resource materials and correctly respond to patient inquiries.
  • Able to calm upset patients in a composed and professional demeanor.
  • Excellent data entry, numeric, typing, and computer navigational skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
