The Lead Tech – Radiology plays a critical role in the day-to-day operations of the imaging department. This individual must possess knowledge of all areas within the department and utilize effective leadership skills to supervise, delegate, and evaluate employees. The Lead Tech Radiology collaborates with other health team members to implement Continuous Quality Improvement principles.

This position serves as a resource for other imaging employees, providing education, training, and problem-solving support. The Lead Tech is responsible for operating ionizing radiation-producing equipment, adhering to license regulations from the Bureau of Radiation Control of the State of Texas. They perform all skills required of a Radiology technologist and assist Radiologists and staff physicians as needed.

Maintaining HIPAA regulations is essential, as is performing contrast injections according to policy. The Lead Tech provides a safe environment for patients, visitors, and employees, assessing risks and implementing precautions when necessary. They comply with approved standards, including Radiation Safety (ALARA), patient-related safety, and infection control.

The successful candidate will demonstrate effective leadership skills through planning, organizing, directing, and coordinating departmental functions in alignment with UHS and NWTHS vision, mission, strategic goals, and values. They will operate their departments efficiently, meeting fiscal goals and implementing value-added programs and services.
