Police Officer

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Police Officer to join our team at the City of Texarkana, TX. As a Police Officer, you will be responsible for maintaining law and order, protecting life and property, and providing excellent customer service to the community.

• Patrol designated areas of the city to prevent and investigate crimes, traffic collisions, and disturbances.
• Enforce traffic laws, parking regulations, and other laws and ordinances.
• Respond to emergency calls and provide assistance to citizens in need.
• Conduct investigations, gather evidence, and testify in court proceedings.
• Prepare and maintain various reports and records, including offense reports, arrest documents, and probable cause sheets.
• Participate in community-oriented police work, including crime prevention and education programs.
• Collaborate with other law enforcement agencies and city departments to achieve common goals.

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Valid driver's license without record of suspension or revocation.
• Ability to meet the department's physical standards.
• Ability to pass the appropriate written Civil Service exam.
• Ability to learn and apply laws, ordinances, and departmental rules and regulations.
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with subordinates, peers, and supervisors.

The work environment is typically moderately noisy, and the employee may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes, or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, extreme heat, and vibration.
