Mission Staff

Summary:

As a Ministry Leader (Realife), you will oversee the operations of several departments providing mission services and facilitate the effective functioning of Young Life's operations segment. This role involves leading and participating in effective Young Life ministry through training and direct field experience.

Ministry Functions:

Spiritual Development: This includes prayer, spiritual disciplines, fellowship, growth, health, and church relationships. Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing a yearly personal growth plan that fosters a vibrant spiritual life, including time for solitude, retreat, reflection, prayer, and a sincere commitment to understanding God's Word.
  • Maintaining relationships and disciplines in the context of active participation in a church community.
  • Actively participating in the spiritual life of the Young Life community.
  • Leading teams and individuals in spiritual development.

Leadership Development: This involves key volunteer care, recruiting, team building, and training, supervision, and vision casting. Key responsibilities include:

  • Meeting with volunteer leaders and area leadership on a regular basis.
  • Recruiting and training new leaders to build a leadership team that reflects the community.
  • Modeling excellence in contact work, club, Campaigners, and camping to other leaders.
  • Assisting in training leaders, team leaders, and committees to work effectively in teams and develop a yearly ministry strategy.

Resource Development: This includes events, major donor care, public relations (branding), and TDS team. Key responsibilities include:

  • Raising financial support as directed and maintaining good donor care practices.
  • Communicating ministry updates and progress to personal donor partners.
  • Observing and learning to network and develop strategic relationships with key adults in the community, including principals, pastors, parents, and potential committee members assigned by the area director.
  • Assisting with camp fundraisers.

Direct Ministry: This involves contact work, club, Campaigners, and camp. Key responsibilities include:

  • Actively engaging in all three levels of contact work.
  • Leading a team to plan and conduct a new or existing Young Life club and Campaigners/discipleship ministry with excellence.
  • Leading a team to implement a summer and school-season camping strategy for a ministry.
  • Serving on a summer assignment at a Young Life camp each year.

Ministry Support: This includes accounting, administration, communication (internal), data management, and strategic planning. Key responsibilities include:

  • Adhering to all Young Life policies and procedures and maintaining professionalism concerning office hours, dress, conduct, and time management.
  • Managing finances with stewardship, accountability, and transparency using mission-wide applications.
  • Maintaining accurate information on kids, leaders, and donors for area records.
  • Providing clear, prompt, appropriate, and professional communication to everyone involved in ministry.
  • Setting yearly strategic ministry plans and initiatives to reach every kid, reviewing them regularly.
  • Performing other duties as assigned and congruent with gifts, experience, and area needs.

Training:

As a Ministry Leader (Realife), you will have access to mission-wide training events, including New Staff Training, Winter Training, Focus Conferences, and Young Life University, subject to approval from the regional director.

Education:

A college degree is preferred. Key qualifications for the job include proven relational skills with both kids and adults, demonstrated verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to maintain confidentiality.

Job Specific Working Conditions:

This part-time role is 12-15 hours a week, focused on our Realife ministry geared toward students in our alternative programs. The estimated salary for this role is $675-$875/month, pending experience and qualifications.
