Job Overview

As a Manager of Software Engineering, you will oversee a team of full-stack developers responsible for server-side aspects of smart home security. Your mandate will be broad, encompassing the development of smart home functionality, processing user events, provisioning equipment, testing automation, and integrating diverse devices with the connected ecosystem.

Our software development involves working on backend services, websites, and database design that comprise our entire ecosystem. You will have the opportunity to manage projects spanning various technical areas while leading a team of 15-20 software engineers, providing career mentorship, staffing projects, overseeing project timelines, and generating work for your team.

Typical projects will involve diverse technologies, allowing you to work across various technical areas using the latest technologies and Agile development methods. Strong multi-tasking skills, a can-do attitude, and the ability to self-learn are essential attributes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
  • 12+ years of professional software development experience
  • 5+ years of professional experience managing and mentoring a team of developers
  • Good knowledge of object-oriented programming skills; C# a plus
  • Knowledge of database design and development
  • Knowledge of networking concepts, principles, and technologies
  • Experience working with physical systems
  • Experience developing scalable service-oriented architectures
  • Ability to communicate effectively with engineers and non-engineers alike
  • Experience hiring, developing, and managing a diverse and talented team of engineers
  • Proven track record delivering large-scale, cross-functional projects on time and in a high-quality manner, exploring technical feasibility and prioritization tradeoffs as well as process improvements along the way
