The Rehabilitation Therapy Assistant plays a crucial role in the treatment and documentation of patients across various settings, including inpatient, outpatient, and home health care. The workload may vary depending on the specific position held. Additionally, Rehabilitation Therapy Assistants are tasked with overseeing the activities of Rehabilitation Aides.
Job Requirements: Knowledge of / Skill / Ability to: If conducting home visits, the assistant must possess a reliable automobile in safe, operational condition. A valid driver's license and proof of current vehicle insurance are mandatory.
License/Certification: A valid state license or a temporary permit as a Physical Therapist Assistant, issued by the Oregon State Physical Therapy Licensing Board, is required. Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association is also necessary.
Education and / or Experience: The Rehabilitation Therapy Assistant must have successfully completed an accredited program leading to an Associate's degree or higher in Physical Therapy Assistance.
Physical Demands and Work Environment Conditions / ADA Compliance: The role is primarily indoors, requiring walking and standing for extended periods. The assistant may experience occasional stress in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines. The ability to provide treatments, some of which may require physical strength, is essential. Proper body mechanics must be maintained at all times.
