Acute Care Nurse Residency Program

We are seeking new graduate RNs to join our StaRN Residency Program, a year-long residency that provides intensive training and hands-on experience in acute care nursing.

Program Overview

The StaRN Residency Program is a comprehensive training program that includes:

  • 10-16 weeks of paid classroom and preceptorship training
  • State-of-the-art simulation and debriefing
  • Certifications needed for each unit
  • Training on charting systems

Upon completion of the program, residents will transition to their full-time roles at the hospital and continue professional development through routine interactions with a mentor.

Requirements

To be eligible for the program, candidates must:

  • Be a new graduate RN with a current South Carolina RN license or multi-state compact
  • Have graduated from an accredited school of nursing within the past year
  • Be self-motivated and have strong communication skills
  • Commit to a two-year, full-time employment contract with the hospital

Program Details

The StaRN Residency Program is a 12-14 week program, depending on the specialty, and includes:

  • 5-7 weeks of didactic training
  • 7-8 weeks of preceptorship training

Program participants will work three-hour shifts at the hospital and receive regular development meetings with their preceptor and director.
