Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Process Engineer to lead innovative manufacturing engineering projects at Westlake. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for elevating safety, productivity, and efficiency in our manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with R&D and Manufacturing to leverage gated processes and bring new products to market.
  • Assist in capital equipment budget planning and specifying to improve production techniques and develop new products.
  • Work with a cross-functional team to grow and develop expertise in process engineering.
  • Interface with internal and external customers to strategically plan and develop new products.
  • Analyze data using statistical software and communicate results effectively.
  • Develop and implement new material compounds to meet business objectives.
  • Continuously improve production processes to reduce scrap and improve rates.
  • Develop collaborative relationships with suppliers to stay up-to-date on new machinery and raw materials.
  • Assist in development and testing of projects related to extrusion, injection molding, and other processes.
  • Calculate formulation costs and material costs for management evaluation.
  • Attend trade shows, classes, and training seminars to stay current with industry developments.
  • Represent Westlake in trade association meetings and ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
  • Maintain constructive working relationships with all employees and supervisors.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Materials, or Industrial Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of process engineering experience in polymer injection molding and extrusion processes.
  • Knowledge of polymer chemistry and manufacturing processes.
  • Six sigma green/black belt certification and knowledge of DOE, DMAIC, and statistical analysis.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and leadership skills.
  • Ability to make data-driven decisions and communicate effectively with diverse teams.
