The Aviation Ground Operations Trainer and Auditor specializes in the loading of aircraft cargo and is responsible for conducting SMS Safety Assurance audits and Safety Risk Management of ground operations procedures and services delivered by airline personnel and contractors. This role involves effective communication and coordination regarding technical, safety, security, and regulatory issues with airline management, staff, regulatory agents, inspectors, customer representatives, contractor personnel, and Professional Loadmaster teams.
Provide both classroom and practical training on technical and regulatory aspects of ground operations related to cargo and aircraft handling performed by airline staff and contracted service providers. Offer expert knowledge, conduct research, and develop FAA and TSA compliant methodologies and procedures for cargo airline ground operations, which include: air cargo assembly, restraint, and loading; acceptance and handling of dangerous goods; aircraft weight and balance calculations; aircraft loading and ground handling; cargo and aircraft security; as well as operational safety and Safety Management System (SMS) protocols. The position also entails fulfilling Professional Loadmaster responsibilities, flying on company aircraft to support global air cargo charter contracts, executing Ground Security Coordinator tasks, ensuring the safe and secure management of cargo and aircraft ground handling services for these flights, and overseeing the scheduling of the PLM program.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in aviation cargo operations
- Current FAA (14 CFR) Aircraft Weight and Balance (Loadplanner/Loadmaster) Certification or ability to recertify upon employment
- Current FAA (49 CFR) Dangerous Goods Inspector Certification or ability to recertify upon employment
- Capability to obtain and maintain TSA Security Threat Assessment and/or airport SIDA credential
- Proficient knowledge of aircraft weight and balance calculation techniques and tools
- Understanding of FAR/ICAO/IATA regulations regarding cargo transport, acceptance of dangerous goods, aircraft loading, ground handling, and safety measures
- Familiarity with cargo and aircraft security regulations and protocols
- Valid driver's license
- Valid US Passport
- Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time
- Associate or Bachelor's degree
- Prior experience in conducting audits, evaluations, or safety assurance assessments
- Experience as an instructor or trainer
- Knowledge or experience with IOSA audits
- Familiarity with ICAO or FAA Safety Management Systems regulations and processes
