We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Veterinarian to join our team at the University of Minnesota's Research Animal Resources (RAR) department.
Job Summary:The successful candidate will provide preventative, emergency, and routine veterinary medical care for laboratory animals used in the University of Minnesota's AAALAC-accredited research program.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide clinical care to research animals, including examination, diagnosis, and treatment.
- Develop and implement veterinary care plans to ensure the health and well-being of research animals.
- Collaborate with research personnel to ensure compliance with federal and state laws, University policy, and the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals.
- Participate in design and review of research protocols to ensure animal welfare and regulatory compliance.
- Teach and mentor veterinary students, residents, and staff on laboratory animal medicine and care.
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree from an AVMA-accredited veterinary school.
- At least 2 years of experience as a practicing veterinarian.
- Exceptional communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- License to practice veterinary medicine in Minnesota within 3 months of start date.
- 1 year or more experience in laboratory animal medicine.
- ACLAM Certification or eligibility.
- Working knowledge of federal laws and regulations governing animal research.
