Automation and Control Systems Engineer

Location: Spring, Texas

Position Overview:

We are in search of a skilled Automation and Control Systems Engineer to oversee the specification, design, configuration, testing, supervision, and production of control, electrical, and automation systems. This role requires you to act as a technical authority for designers and engineering technicians engaged in automation, instrumentation, and control system integration and development. You will also provide remote support for on-site installations and assist with PLC/HMI/computer-based hardware, while keeping project managers informed about schedules and costs on multi-disciplinary projects. Effective communication with clients and team members is essential, and you will report directly to the location manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop control systems and instrumentation equipment, including electrical control panels.
  • Perform analytical assessments and troubleshooting tasks.
  • Lead and initiate projects independently.
  • Assist with installation and commissioning activities (experience preferred but not mandatory).
  • Modify and enhance existing systems.
  • Familiarity with PLC/SCADA software (such as Siemens Step 7/WinCC/TIA Portal, Rockwell Automation/Allen Bradley RSLogix5000 and FactoryTalk is advantageous but not essential).
  • Background in computer programming is a plus but not required.
  • Understand hazardous area equipment and installation standards (ATEX, IECEx, NEC, NFPA, etc.).
  • Knowledge of DNV, ABS, API, and MODU codes/standards is beneficial but not necessary.
  • Maintain effective communication with clients, colleagues, and management.

Qualifications and Skills:

Experience:

  • At least 5 years of experience in a similar position; field or industry experience may be considered based on the candidate's experience level.
  • Strong interpersonal communication and report writing capabilities.
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Proficiency in various computer applications, including the MS-Office Suite.
  • Working knowledge of CAD and similar design software.

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Electronic & Electrical/Controls/Instrumentation Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Valid US work credentials.

  • This position is based in the Spring, Texas area.
  • Travel may be necessary.
