Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant to join our team at WellSpan Health. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Obtain and document patient vital signs, including temperature, blood pressure, weight, BMI, respirations, and pulse.
  • Collect and process patient specimens, ensuring proper handling, storage, and transportation to the lab.
  • Ensure patient care areas are adequately stocked with medical supplies and equipment, and maintain a clean and safe environment.
  • Prepare patients for scheduled procedures, including gowning and setting up instruments and supplies.
  • Administer vaccines, medications, and controlled substances under the supervision of a licensed nurse or provider.
  • Document and process prescription requests and refills, and perform basic office procedures, examinations, and tests as ordered by the provider.
  • Provide patients with standard patient care instructions and education, and review with patient and family members as directed by the provider.
  • Obtain comprehensive health information from patients and family members to review with providers or clinical resources over the phone.
  • Manage daily patient flow, prioritize tasks, and delegate responsibilities to the care team.
Requirements
  • Associates degree or diploma in Medical Assisting required.
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification required upon hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire.
  • Medical terminology knowledge required.
