Overview
As a Registered Nurse within the Thompson Oncology Float Pool, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care. This position offers a competitive sign-on bonus for experienced RNs and requires full-time commitment, working 80 hours per pay period on day shifts. You will be expected to travel to various clinic and infusion sites as part of your responsibilities.

Thompson Oncology Group (TOG) ensures that patients have access to all proven drug-based treatments and the latest clinical trial options.

Our team comprises board-certified, fellowship-trained medical oncologists and certified advanced practice providers who deliver on-site care, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, and hormone therapy at affiliated infusion centers across the region.


Position Summary:
As a professional nurse, you will provide care within an assigned unit, coordinating care planning with interdisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess and correlate patient history and support systems within the context of hospital and nursing home care.
  • Evaluate the needs of patients and their families.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with patients and families.
  • Recommend appropriate interventions based on patient assessments.
  • Continuously evaluate the effectiveness of care plans.
  • Utilize clinical expertise to resolve complex patient and management issues independently.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in critical nursing skills tailored to the specific age-related needs of the patient population.
  • Lead or participate in process improvement initiatives within your unit.
  • Mentor new employees and students, providing guidance and feedback on clinical performance.
  • Facilitate educational activities beyond basic patient education.
  • Contribute to the development and assessment of the unit orientation program.
  • Supervise LPNs, Nursing Assistants, HUCs, Techs, and sitters.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Minimum Education:

While no specific educational background is mandated, candidates must meet the requirements for licensure and certification as dictated by the relevant authorities.


Minimum Experience:
A minimum of three (3) years of professional nursing experience is required.

Licensure Requirement:
A valid RN license in Tennessee is mandatory. Completion of fire/security, infection control, and CPR in-services is also required. OCN certification is preferred.

Continuing Education:

Twenty (20) hours of continuing education are required annually, with at least ten (10) hours dedicated to enhancing clinical expertise. Alternative options include fifteen (15) hours annually with ACLS certification, or ten (10) hours annually with specialty certification or ACLS instructor certification.
