Job Summary

LaborOne Staffing is seeking a skilled Marine Electrician to join our team. As a Marine Electrician, you will be responsible for planning, installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical wiring, equipment, and control systems on marine vessels and shipyard buildings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and install electrical systems and equipment on marine vessels and shipyard buildings.
  • Maintain and repair electrical systems and equipment, including generators, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, and electrical motors.
  • Inspect electrical systems and equipment to detect hazards, defects, and need for adjustments or repair.
  • Test electrical systems and equipment to ensure they are functioning properly.
  • Troubleshoot electrical equipment and circuits to detect and affect required maintenance, repairs, or replacement requirements.
  • Perform maintenance and repair of electrical power generating and distribution systems, voltage regulators, engine governors, and equipment.
  • Work with minimal supervision and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Three to five years of experience in electrical and electro-mechanical systems maintenance and repair, preferably with two or more years on marine electrical systems.
  • Working knowledge of the principles, techniques, and practices involved in the installation, maintenance, repair, and alteration of marine electrical and electro-mechanical systems.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and schematics.
  • Ability to recognize problems through troubleshooting and ability to resolve these issues/problems.
  • Knowledge of safe operation and use of hand and power tools.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from supervisors and employees.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, including metrics.

Physical Demands

The employee is regularly required to communicate. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing throughout the workday. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
