Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and organized Admitting Representative to join our team at MarinHealth. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating the efficient and orderly admission of inpatients, registration of outpatients, and ensuring accurate patient information is collected.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Timely and accurate registration of all patients, including functions related to Pre-Registration, Prior Authorization, and Insurance Verification.
  • Obtaining timely and accurate information to establish a complete Medical Record and proper demographic and financial information, with an error rate of 5% or less.
  • Processing registration records and distributing information to hospital departments.
  • Collecting deposits, copayments, deductibles, or co-insurances as required.
  • Maintaining a strong working knowledge of insurance and billing requirements to ensure accurate registration.
  • Escorting or arranging escort of patients to patient care units by wheelchair or walking.
  • Demonstrating excellent customer relations skills, greeting and providing information to patients and visitors.
  • Answering telephone in a professional manner and relaying information timely.
  • Maintaining effective working relationships with external organizations and agencies as required.
  • Being a strong team player and maintaining a focus on assigned tasks.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED; Associates degree in healthcare or business field preferred.
  • One or more years of experience working in an acute care setting, preferably in Admitting/Registration, Pre-admission Process, or Insurance Verification.
  • Computer experience required.
  • Working knowledge of overall aspects of the admissions process, including patient admissions, pre-admissions, insurance verification, and customer service.
  • Ability to work tactfully and professionally with patients, family members, and hospital staff.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with preference for speaking English, Spanish, or other languages.
  • Understanding of the diversity of our patient population and treating everyone with respect and courtesy.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BLS-HCP with American Heart Association Certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) Training within 90 days of hire and maintained annually.
