Position Overview

The Princeton Neuroscience Institute (PNI) is a leading research facility affiliated with Princeton University, committed to addressing challenges at the cutting edge of neuroscience. Role Summary

We are in search of an Instrumentation Engineer who will play a crucial role in the design, construction, and testing of specialized instruments that are not commercially available for neuroscience research. This engineer will collaborate closely with PNI principal investigators and other researchers to identify their instrumentation requirements, resolve design challenges, and implement a detailed technical strategy. The aim is to foster a collaborative atmosphere throughout the entire process, from initial concept to final execution. Additionally, this individual will assist in the maintenance of existing equipment and devise inventive solutions to adapt current methodologies to meet the evolving demands of researchers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support PNI researchers in the design, development, and evaluation of instruments utilized in neuroscience experiments.
  • Assist in the maintenance and repair of current equipment, while proposing alternative solutions for ongoing technical challenges.
  • Collaborate with researchers in the production and assembly of equipment that is new to the laboratory but established within the field.
Qualifications

Essential Qualifications:

  • Master's degree with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Proficient technical and experimental skills.
  • Experience with CAD/CAM design.
  • Knowledge in machining, 3D printing, and prototyping.
  • Familiarity with electronics and electronic design.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills are essential.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in laboratory or project management.
