Position Summary:
The Dispatcher I plays a crucial role in managing the daily operational functions of delivery staff. This includes organizing delivery schedules, coordinating truck dispatch, and handling necessary documentation. The Dispatcher I also contributes to the development of procedures aimed at ensuring timely and efficient deliveries while addressing any operational challenges that may arise.
Key Responsibilities:
- Promptly allocate orders to the nearest driver based on the delivery location.
- Manage delivery assignments and redirect any orders that cannot be fulfilled.
- Deliver courteous and efficient service to clients during phone interactions.
- Provide delivery personnel with relevant updates and information regarding their assigned deliveries and pickups.
- Accurately input all pertinent data into the internal transportation management system.
- Prioritize and manage calls and tasks based on urgency and importance.
- Confirm delivery schedules with clients prior to dispatch.
- Notify relevant departments of any orders that cannot be delivered.
- Maintain an updated list of delivery personnel available for on-call service during specific nights.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role or as a Delivery Technician.
- Strong communication and organizational skills are essential.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and demonstrated experience in data entry.
