Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified Adjunct Faculty-Biology Instructor to join our team at Maricopa Community College District. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching General Biology courses to students at our Glendale Community College campus.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach General Biology courses to students in a face-to-face format, including lectures and hands-on laboratory sessions.
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that meet the needs of diverse student populations.
  • Assess student learning and adjust instruction to ensure that all students achieve the course's stated learning outcomes.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to revise course content, laboratory experiments, and instructional materials to keep the course current and improve student retention and achievement.
  • Stay current with developments in biology through reading of professional journals, participation in conferences, and other professional development activities.
Requirements
  • A Master's degree or higher in biology or a biology-related discipline.
  • Experience teaching lower division college courses, preferably in a face-to-face format.
  • Experience conducting primary research in biology, including presentation at scientific meetings and publication in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Demonstrated commitment to supporting diverse student populations in their mastery of course learning outcomes.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ph.D. or Master's degree in an evidence-based scientific discipline, particularly in fields directly related to General Biology I or General Biology II.
  • Experience teaching a college-level General Biology course for BIO majors, preferably in a face-to-face format.
