Technology Engineer - Corn Processing
As a key member of the Carbohydrate Solutions team, the Technology Engineer will focus on enhancing the operational efficiency of the corn processing facilities. This role involves a blend of technical expertise and collaborative efforts to drive improvements across various processing units.

Position Highlights:
The Carbohydrate Solutions Technology Group is dedicated to optimizing the deconstruction of corn into its essential components, which include:
  • Corn starch
  • Corn germ
  • Corn gluten meal
  • Corn fiber
  • Steepwater
These components are produced through several critical operations:
  • Steeping
  • Grinding
  • Centrifugation
  • Filtration
  • Pumping
This position will primarily focus on continuous improvement initiatives and optimization strategies within the corn processing department, while also fostering collaboration with peers across various facilities.

The Technology Engineer will leverage engineering principles to enhance both new and existing operations, with responsibilities ranging from process design to the assessment and integration of innovative technologies. The role is vital in ensuring that processing systems are designed, operated, and maintained to meet safety and efficiency standards.

The engineer will contribute significantly to the organization's sustainability and energy efficiency objectives by enhancing reliability and yield recovery.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Champion safety initiatives and cultivate a safety-first culture.
  • Evaluate the milling processes against industry benchmarks and implement enhancements.
  • Oversee project management within the milling department, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
  • Develop a comprehensive project portfolio, balancing capital investment with operational improvements.
  • Collaborate with global teams to align technological advancements with process enhancements.
  • Investigate and advocate for new technologies and equipment suppliers.
  • Standardize operations and share best practices across facilities.
  • Provide technical support to operations in resolving process-related challenges.
  • Assist in establishing departmental goals and performance indicators.
  • Engage with subject matter experts to implement innovative operational strategies.
  • Mentor and train plant process engineers to enhance their skills.
Qualifications:
  • Commitment to safety and awareness of workplace hazards.
  • In-depth knowledge of process operations, including steeping, grinding, and filtration.
  • Experience in process optimization and analytical methodologies.
  • Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with engineers and management.
  • Familiarity with process documentation such as P&IDs and control narratives.
  • Willingness to work in various plant environments and conditions.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, including travel to remote locations.
  • Proactive and results-driven approach.
  • Some travel may be required.
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
Experience:
  • 3-5 years of experience in process production systems.
Preferred Experience:
  • Experience in production or project engineering with supervisory responsibilities is advantageous.
