Job Title: Paving Superintendent

Job Summary:

The Paving Superintendent will be responsible for overseeing the production aspects of paving projects, ensuring quality work is delivered in a timely and cost-effective manner. This role requires strong leadership and communication skills to manage a team of crew members and subcontractors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Management: Plan, coordinate, and execute paving projects from start to finish, ensuring compliance with project specifications and company standards.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise and direct a team of crew members, providing guidance, training, and feedback to ensure they meet performance expectations.
  • Communication: Foster effective communication with clients, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders to ensure project requirements are met and issues are resolved promptly.
  • Quality Control: Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, identify potential issues, and implement corrective actions to ensure high-quality work is delivered.
  • Safety and Risk Management: Develop and implement safety protocols to minimize risks and ensure a safe working environment for crew members and subcontractors.
  • Administrative Tasks: Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation, including timecards, field reports, and schedule updates.

Requirements:

  • Education and Certifications: Maintain OSHA 30 hour and current CPR and First Aid certifications, as well as Board of Certified Safety Professional (BCSP) Safety Trained Supervisor (STS) certification.
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years' experience in surveying, construction staking, GPS, Total Station, and/or machine control, with a minimum of 5 years' experience managing crews preferred.
  • Skills: Excellent computer skills, MS Office, Excel-based templates, and AutoCAD experience a plus.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to lift and/or move up to 60 pounds, stand for long periods, and work in various weather conditions.

Working Conditions:

  • Regularly exposed to loud noise, dust, airborne particles, fumes, and various types of smells.
  • Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, vibration, and high precarious places.
  • Regularly exposed to a variety of inclement weather conditions, including cold, wet, hot, and/or humid conditions.
