Responsibilities

The Monitor Technician plays a crucial role in providing indirect patient care within the department. This position involves monitoring cardiac rhythms through direct cardiac monitors, ensuring effective communication within the team, and transcribing physician orders as necessary.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Verifying that laboratory and radiology tests have been ordered and completed.
  • Preparing and maintaining accurate records in the emergency room.
  • Ordering supplies for the unit and ensuring patient charts are complete with necessary documentation.
  • Assisting nursing staff with indirect patient care duties while prioritizing dysrhythmia monitoring.

Note: Under specific conditions, the Monitor Technician may provide direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.



Qualifications

To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent or relevant experience.
  • Current Dysrhythmia Interpretation Certificate.
  • Current BLS (AHA) certification.
  • Preferred: Six months of prior experience as a Monitor Technician.
