Position Summary
We are in search of a seasoned firmware engineer to develop processor support and application software for our embedded systems. This role involves enhancing existing hardware capabilities and supporting the integration of new technologies, working in close collaboration with hardware design teams. The ideal candidate will engage with vehicle software engineers and operators, contributing to a significant transition in our software architecture.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop firmware for newly acquired hardware to ensure operational functionality.
- Enhance and troubleshoot existing hardware systems.
- Create offboard software solutions for hardware deployment and testing.
- Design onboard software frameworks applicable across various hardware instances.
- Manage and improve firmware for third-party devices.
Essential Qualifications
- 5-8 years of experience in firmware development.
- Proficient in setting up and debugging toolchains, managing memory in constrained environments, and understanding boot sequences.
- Strong programming skills in C, C++, and Python.
- Familiarity with serial hardware interfaces such as UART, SPI, and I2C.
- Knowledge of sustainable coding practices.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Experience with basic electrical engineering tools.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Simulink/MatLab and control systems.
- Background in firmware for diesel engine control.
- Familiarity with real-time operating systems like FreeRTOS.
- Understanding of CAN protocols.
- Experience in device driver or kernel development.
- Basic knowledge of schematics and their relevance to firmware.
