Job Title: Hydrovac Operator

Job Summary:

The Hydrovac Operator is responsible for driving and operating the Hydrovac truck on various locations or sites. The operator will have to navigate off-road for pipeline projects and tight spaces on rig or completion sites. The primary goal is to maximize the safety of all personnel at the work site and ensure the most efficient operation possible.

Responsibilities:
  • Drive the Hydrovac truck to the customer's location(s) to perform potholing, trenching, locating, and cleaning, collecting the material.
  • Awareness of all safety requirements and training for each customer.
  • Monitor the amount of material loaded into the hydro truck and only carry what is lawfully allowed to haul, and other situations presented by the site or the customer.
  • Drive the truck to and from the dig site, rig site, completion site, or customer's dump site(s) or back to the yard location.
  • While the truck is working, the operator must monitor the truck and work environment.
  • Maintain accurate work tickets based on the requirements and the work performed for the customer(s).
  • Maintain accurate driving logbooks, perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections, and ensure accuracy of the maintenance on the vehicle.
  • Alert the supervisor when mechanical defects are noted on the truck, as well as when work hours may exceed the DOT maximums.
  • Complete required work plans, job safety analysis, observations, and attend safety meetings as required.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance on the Hydrovac, such as grease and blowout air filters.
  • Use hand tools and other equipment associated with the vehicle.
  • Perform and assume other duties and responsibilities as may be required by the immediate supervisor.
Qualifications and Competencies:
  • Class B CDL with Tanker Endorsement required.
  • Must have a clean driving record.
  • Must be skilled in the operation of heavy equipment, Hydrovac truck experience preferred.
  • Must pass all drug screenings, including randoms.
Work/Environment and Physical Requirements:
  • Shop, Field, and Office environment, using computer, telephone, other office equipment as needed to perform duties, frequent interruptions throughout the day likely.
  • Essential: continuous sitting, standing, wrist turning, grasping, pinching, and finger manipulation, frequent turning and twisting, and occasional reaching.
  • Weather elements can be extreme cold, heat, and wind.
  • Occasionally required to lift or carry up to 50-75 lbs, push/pull occasionally required for up to 50-75 lbs.
  • Hearing and vision (both correctable) are essential.
