We are seeking a highly skilled Aerospace Systems Engineer III to join our team at Blue Origin. As a key member of our Space Systems Development business unit, you will play a critical role in the development of reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems.
Key Responsibilities- Develop aerospace multidisciplinary models and simulations using platforms ranging from desktop computers to on-vehicle simulation.
- Perform trade studies and system performance analysis to support vehicle parachute configurations and flight test program.
- Collaborate with a diverse team of engineers and subject matter experts to pursue advanced design and technology solutions.
- Contribute to the development of a Blue Origin-funded versatile spacecraft that will serve a wide variety of customers.
- B.S. in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, physics, or related technical subject area.
- 5+ years of demonstrated experience in development of aerospace vehicle and/or physical system models and simulations.
- Strong fundamentals in rigid body dynamics, flight mechanics, and 1st principles physics-based mathematical models.
- Familiarity with Python/C/C++ for building low-level simulations.
- Experience with aerodynamics, parachute hardware, and parachute modeling and simulations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to execute in a dynamic, fast-paced, and driven work environment.
- Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and strengthen our culture of inclusion.
- M.S. or PhD in the subject disciplines.
- Solid system engineering and configuration management skills.
- Experience with NASA simulation tools and environments (Trick/JEOD).
- Experience with Julia SW language.
- Familiarity with Orbital Mechanics, Astrodynamics, Vehicle Dynamics, Robotics, Flight Environment Analysis, Simulation, and Modeling.
- Familiarity with 6 degree-of-freedom guidance, navigation, and control simulation and analysis of aerospace vehicles.
- Experience with verification and validation of aerospace simulations and models.
