Banner Heart Hospital's CVOR features six surgical suites, including one angio and one hybrid suite. Our highly trained CVOR team supports surgeons and anesthesiologists in caring for patients undergoing various cardiac and vascular surgeries. The CVOR team is expected to be available during off-hours, holidays, and weekends, providing on-call coverage as needed. We collaborate closely with our affiliated facilities and may require staff to assist in their needs.

SHIFT DETAILS

Employment Type: Full-time

Hours per Week: 40 hours (5-8 hour shifts)

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM

On Call: 1-2 weekends per month, with a minimum of 3 different call shifts per department rotation.

Compensation: Enjoy a flat rate of $5/hour for on-call shifts, $3/hour weekend shift differential, and an 18% night shift differential when applicable.

POSITION SUMMARY
This role involves assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and documenting nursing care for patients in line with organizational policies and professional nursing standards. The position is accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered by oneself or those under their supervision. Specialized knowledge, judgment, and nursing skills are essential for assessing data and planning, providing, and evaluating care appropriate to the physical and developmental age of assigned patients.

The Cardiovascular Operating Room Nurse assists physicians with advanced tasks or equipment during surgical procedures, including cardiopulmonary bypass, trans-esophageal echocardiogram studies, cardiac output assistive devices, and vascular access interventions. The CVOR RN must be proficient in performing and interpreting various cardiac and vascular lab tests.

CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Assess patient needs, including physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural, and discharge planning. Review patient history and physical assessments with the patient/family and ensure timely completion. Analyze available information from other healthcare team members and report abnormal diagnostic and laboratory results to the physician(s) and other appropriate caregivers.

2. Develop a comprehensive plan of care, including discharge planning, utilizing assessment data and input from the patient, family, and healthcare team. Ensure goals are realistic, measurable, and collaboratively developed with the patient/family, considering their unique needs.

3. Implement the care plan through direct patient care, coordination, delegation, and supervision of healthcare team activities. Provide care in accordance with physician orders and nursing standards, ensuring compliance with policies and regulatory requirements.

4. Evaluate the patient's and family's response to care and education, revising the care plan as necessary. Collaborate with healthcare team members to assess patient progress towards goals and expected outcomes.

5. Document all aspects of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in the patient record, ensuring clarity, timeliness, and adherence to policy.

6. Deliver care based on the best available evidence and engage in research activities within clinical practice. Participate in unit or facility shared leadership initiatives.
