Implements institutional policies, procedures, and/or protocols to adhere to mandated requirements.


Utilizes effective communication skills when engaging with students, staff, families, and the community, employing appropriate language and clear visual aids.

Demonstrates awareness and respect for the cultural diversity of individuals.

Complies with professional, ethical, and legal standards of Physical Therapy practice, including maintaining necessary State Licensure and credentials.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


Delivers tailored clinical programs to address students' physical therapy needs as specified in their Individual Education Plan (IEP).

Sessions may be conducted individually or in groups as dictated by the IEP.

Provides ongoing consultation, training, and support for classroom personnel to facilitate the implementation of therapeutic programs.


Collaborates with team members in the assessment and development of prescriptive feeding programs aimed at enhancing oral motor skills.

Participates in various discipline-related meetings and training sessions (e.g., team meetings, departmental meetings, program discussions, staff development days).

Engages closely with families to provide suitable home programs.

Works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team responsible for coordinating and executing goals and recommendations for each student.

Designs and/or acquires adaptive positioning systems necessary for proper alignment and to promote independent movement patterns (e.g., wheelchairs, standers).

Participates in the design and/or modification of adaptive equipment or devices (e.g., utensils, switches).

Maintains written documentation in accordance with departmental and organizational regulations.

Understands the psychological, social, and medical characteristics of the population served by the organization.

Provides clinical instruction for future therapists in accordance with each educational institution's requirements and the OT/PT department student guidelines.

Additional responsibilities may be assigned.

To excel in this role, an individual must be capable of performing each essential duty satisfactorily. The qualifications listed below represent the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Master's degree (M.A.), Bachelor's degree (B.A.), or Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy, along with current or in-progress New York State licensure. Previous experience is preferred but not mandatory.
