Role Overview
We seek dedicated educators who are passionate about teaching and understand the significance of quality education. As a teacher at MLKCSE, you will take on the essential responsibility of planning and delivering engaging lessons while tracking the academic progress and achievements of your students.
Our grade-level teams are structured to enhance collaboration. In Kindergarten and Grade 1, we utilize a co-teaching model. Grades K-3 are self-contained classrooms, while Grades 4 and 5 operate on a departmentalized system, where teachers manage three rotations of the same grade level and core subjects (ELA, Math, or Science). Class sizes are maintained at approximately 20 students, with a maximum of 22.
Key Responsibilities
- Record daily attendance accurately.
- Oversee student breakfast routines within the classroom.
- Continuously refine and adapt our core curricular materials.
- Deliver innovative and engaging instruction that aligns with MLKCSE curricular guidelines, Common Core State Standards, and Massachusetts Frameworks.
- Ensure timely grading and feedback for students.
- Collaborate with Special Education, ESL Educators, and Instructional Leaders to provide targeted support and interventions.
- Engage in collaborative curriculum development, grade-level activities, meetings, professional development, and school-wide events.
- Administer various assessments, record and analyze data, and use findings to enhance curriculum and instructional strategies.
- Participate in regular data review meetings with grade-level colleagues and instructional leadership.
- Identify students who are struggling to meet benchmarks and develop appropriate interventions, including small group and one-on-one support.
- Uphold the values and accountability systems of our school regarding academics and character development.
- Maintain high academic and behavioral expectations consistently.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with students, families, and colleagues.
- Exhibit professionalism and fulfill responsibilities in a timely manner.
- Report directly to the Principal.
- Bachelor's Degree.
- Preliminary MA teaching certification or actively pursuing MA teaching certification.
- SEI or RETELL endorsement.
- Prior teaching experience, especially in urban settings, is preferred.
- Bilingual candidates (Spanish) are encouraged to apply.

Compensation for teaching positions
$50,000-$95,000 USD.
