About the Position

The Forest Preserve District of DuPage County is seeking a skilled Wildlife Rehabilitation Assistant to join our team at the DuPage Wildlife Conservation Center.

As a member of our conservation team, you will play a critical role in assisting with the care and rehabilitation of sick, orphaned, and injured wildlife. This position offers a unique opportunity to work with a variety of species, from birds to mammals, and to contribute to the preservation of these amazing creatures.

This 6-month seasonal position requires individuals who are passionate about animal care, have excellent communication skills, and are able to work effectively as part of a team. We are looking for someone with a basic knowledge of animal behavior and training practices, as well as the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously.

Responsibilities include providing daily care for rehabilitating wildlife, including feeding, watering, cleaning, and monitoring health; assisting with enclosure maintenance; transporting wildlife using cargo vans for safe release in a new setting; and maintaining accurate records of patient animals' progress.
