Job Summary

As a Diagnostic Sonographer PRN at SSM Health, you will perform diagnostic procedures on patients using ultrasound waves to examine tissue and body structure, providing high-quality images for interpretation. This role requires a registered sonographer holding two or more registries appropriate for the department(s) in which the sonographer works.

Responsibilities and Requirements
  • Perform routine and complex studies and assist in a variety of imaging procedures.
  • Recognize significant structures, artifacts, pathology, and equipment limitations.
  • Ensure equipment is properly functioning and report potential problems or equipment malfunctions to appropriate personnel.
  • Submit all high-quality images and documents sent to PACS (image quality, images labeled correctly and patient data/history).
  • Maintain a clean and orderly department, including procedure rooms, storage areas, dressing rooms, and other areas.
  • Comply with regulatory agencies and work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
Education and Experience

Completion of a Sonography certification program is required. No experience is necessary, but a Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) certification from the American Heart Association is required, along with two ARDMS registries, which can include Abdomen (AB), Breast (BR), OB/GYN, Vascular (RVS), or Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT).
