Quality Assurance Specialist

The Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring that our products and processes meet established quality standards. This involves identifying shortfalls, developing corrective measures, and implementing quality control systems.
The successful Quality Engineer will have excellent troubleshooting skills to ensure that processes and products consistently meet or exceed established quality standards.
- Perform root cause analysis of quality issues to analyze quality performance using statistical, analytical, and advanced problem-solving tools.
- Recommend and implement cost-effective permanent corrective actions.
- Analyze quality data from internal and external indicators to ensure correlation.
- Coordinate with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Suppliers to resolve issues that are not plant controllable.
- Manage engineering changes, working with cross-functional teams to ensure timely execution.
- Conduct product evaluation requests to ensure robustness of product or process changes before full implementation.
- Recommend and validate rework procedures.
- Develop inspection procedures and best practices.
Must have:
- A valid Driver's license.
- Ability to work ANY shift.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced degree.
- Experience with BIW commodity.
- Experience in the design, testing, and assembly of assembly lines.
- Experience working in a union environment.
- Background in LEAN manufacturing principles or World Class Manufacturing (WCM) and problem-solving techniques.
Manufacturing General Physical Requirements:
- Work different shifts and/or work weekends, including overtime.
- Work in hot and/or cold environments.
- Work around heavy equipment or manufacturing machinery.
- Wear safety equipment such as safety glasses, sleeves, earplugs, and steel-toed shoes.
- Stand or walk for long periods of time each day.
- Frequently bend, stoop, reach, and lift up to 40 pounds.
- Work in tight or closed-in spaces.
- Regularly climb ladder/man lift/stairs/crawl under vehicles if necessary.
Education:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or applicable Technical Engineering Degree from an accredited university.
