About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Laboratory Scientist II to join our team at Christus Health. As a member of our laboratory team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of test results.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine and complex laboratory procedures, including specimen processing and handling, testing of patient specimens, calculation and reporting of results, quality control procedures, instrument operation and maintenance, and assistance in developing new procedures and protocols.
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation and equipment, making minor repairs as necessary or notifying Bio-med when needed.
  • Cross-train to other laboratory sections as required.
  • Assure adherence to the laboratory's quality control program.
  • Calculate, enter, and/or verify results of laboratory procedures.
  • Utilize the Laboratory Information System.
  • Provide notification and documentation of critical laboratory values obtained.
  • Process patient specimens, including collection, handling, and distribution, considering minimal pediatric specimen volumes when necessary.
  • Participate in evaluating, developing, and implementing new or updated testing procedures and protocols.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution or equivalent laboratory training and experience meeting CLIA regulation 42CFR493.1489 requirements.
  • OR Education evaluated by an acceptable credentialing agency and deemed equivalent to a US Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science or medical technology.
  • No experience required for graduates of a clinical laboratory training program approved or accredited by NAACLS or other organizations approved by HHS.
  • OR One year of approved clinical laboratory experience, including a clinical rotation through Blood Banking, Microbiology, Chemistry, Hematology, Immunology, and Urinalysis/Body Fluids in the U.S. or with an accredited laboratory within the last 5 years.
  • Must possess Certification for MT, MLS, CLS, or MLT from ASCP, AMT, AAB, or HEW/HHS.
  • If certification with an expiration date is held, it must be maintained and kept current.
  • Louisiana requires State Licensure.
  • New Graduate that is Board Certified or eligible (must complete Board Certification in 1 year of hire, Louisiana excluded).
Compensation and Benefits

The estimated annual salary for this position is approximately $65,000 to $85,000 based on industry standards and location. In addition to a competitive salary, we offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plan, paid time off, and professional development opportunities.
