Job Summary

The Surgical Technologist, WakeMed Travel Staffing is an allied health professional who is an integral part of the team of medical practitioners providing surgical care to a variety of patient populations. Functions under the supervision of a surgeon or registered nurse to ensure that the operating room environment is safe, that equipment functions properly, and that the operative procedure is conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety.

Responsibilities

The Surgical Technologist will:

  • Prepare the operating room for surgical procedures, including setting up equipment and ensuring that all necessary supplies are available
  • Assist the surgeon and other medical staff during surgical procedures, including passing instruments and maintaining a safe and sterile environment
  • Monitor the patient's vital signs and report any changes or concerns to the surgeon or registered nurse
  • Participate in the surgical team to ensure that all procedures are conducted safely and efficiently

Requirements

The Surgical Technologist will have:

  • 1 year of clinical experience as a Surgical Technician
  • A high school diploma or equivalent and a graduate degree in Surgical Technology
  • Certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist within 12 months of completion of Surgical Technology program
