Position Summary: The Speech-Language Pathologist will deliver extensive speech and language services to students in the educational environment. This role encompasses the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of communication disorders, alongside collaboration with educators, families, and other professionals to meet each student's academic and developmental requirements.
Core Responsibilities:
- Evaluation and Diagnosis: Perform comprehensive assessments of students' speech and language capabilities through standardized evaluations, observations, and interviews. Identify communication disorders and establish eligibility for services.
- Customized Treatment: Create and execute tailored education plans (IEPs) and therapy strategies based on assessment findings. Provide direct intervention services to students facing communication challenges.
- Collaboration: Partner with educators, special education teams, and families to enhance students' learning objectives. Advise on methods to incorporate speech and language targets within the classroom setting.
- Record Keeping: Maintain precise and current documentation of student progress, therapy sessions, and assessment outcomes. Generate reports for IEP discussions and relay findings to families and educational staff.
- Continuous Learning: Keep abreast of the latest advancements in speech-language pathology and special education. Engage in ongoing professional growth and training opportunities.
- Student Advocacy: Champion the needs of students, ensuring they receive suitable accommodations and modifications to facilitate their learning and communication development.
Required Qualifications:
- Education: Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
- Licensure: Valid state licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
- Certification: Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) preferred, or eligibility to obtain.
- Experience: Previous experience in an educational setting preferred, though not mandatory. Familiarity with IEP development and execution is advantageous.
- Skills: Exceptional diagnostic and therapeutic abilities, strong communication skills, and the capability to collaborate effectively with a diverse group of professionals and families.
