Core Responsibilities:

  • Evaluation and Diagnosis: Perform comprehensive assessments of students' speech and language capabilities through standardized evaluations, observations, and interviews. Identify communication disorders and establish eligibility for services.
  • Customized Treatment: Create and execute tailored education plans (IEPs) and therapy strategies based on assessment findings. Provide direct intervention services to students facing communication challenges.
  • Collaboration: Partner with educators, special education teams, and families to enhance students' learning objectives. Advise on methods to incorporate speech and language targets within the classroom setting.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain precise and current documentation of student progress, therapy sessions, and assessment outcomes. Generate reports for IEP discussions and relay findings to families and educational staff.
  • Continuous Learning: Keep abreast of the latest advancements in speech-language pathology and special education. Engage in ongoing professional growth and training opportunities.
  • Student Advocacy: Champion the needs of students, ensuring they receive suitable accommodations and modifications to facilitate their learning and communication development.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
  • Licensure: Valid state licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
  • Certification: Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) preferred, or eligibility to obtain.
  • Experience: Previous experience in an educational setting preferred, though not mandatory. Familiarity with IEP development and execution is advantageous.
  • Skills: Exceptional diagnostic and therapeutic abilities, strong communication skills, and the capability to collaborate effectively with a diverse group of professionals and families.
