Safety and Systems Engineering Specialist

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems sector is seeking a System Safety Engineer with experience in safety engineering processes and standards to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals.
The successful candidate will be collaborative, open, transparent, and team-oriented with a focus on team empowerment and shared responsibility, flexibility, continuous learning, and a culture of automation.
As an integral part of our multi-discipline engineering team in Advanced Weapons, you will be on the forefront of developing next generation solutions to protect technology for our nation's warfighter.
This position will require close collaboration with team members of other projects within the organization for security architecture designs as well as external partners and customers.
Key Responsibilities:- System safety analysis of military weapon systems
- Participation in risk assessments/resolution and mishap investigations
- Development of safety documentation such as System Safety Program Plan (SSPP), Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA), Functional Hazard Analysis (FHA), System/Subsystem Hazard Analysis (SHA/SuSHA), Bent Pin Analyses, Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Safety Assessment Report (SAR) and Software Safety Analysis
- Experience with implementing and testing software safety requirements
- Strong working knowledge of military system safety and process standards and their Industry equivalent such as MIL-STD-882, RCC 319, AFSPCMAN 91-710, ASTM, ANSI, NEC, AFOSH, AOP-52, JOTP-051, PESHE, NFPA
- BS in Electrical Engineering or relevant degree with 5 years of relevant/related experience or a MS in Electrical Engineering or relevant degree with 3 years of relevant/related experience
- Familiarity with electrical circuit design
- Experience with application of MIL-STD-882E to analyze, recommend, and drive safety into system design, equipment and procedures in order to mitigate or eliminate hazards
- Experience documenting hazards with a closed-loop Hazard Tracking System (HTS)
- Active DoD Security Clearance (investigation completed within last 5 years)
